Flat Roofing

Flat roofs are horizontal roofs with a very slight inclination (usually 10 degrees). Flat roofs can be made from a variety of different materials and substances, including: Asphalt built up roof (BUR), modified bitumen, Hypalon, PVC, TPO - Thermoplastic Polyolefin single-ply roofing and Mineral built up felt, lead roofs, fibre glass, Fibreglass GPR Roofing, EPDM - Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (synthetic rubber roofing). Flat roofs always have a base and a coating of some sort, all of which require inspection and maintenance on a regular basis.

Asphalt is a traditional form of roofing, only less than 5% of the roof materials on the market. When correctly installed they have a life expectancy of 25 years+.

Flat roofs are a distinguishing feature of modern architecture. However, flat roofs are more suited to residential buildings rather than industrial or commercial, as a flat roof will become gradually unstable as its size increases, and also exceedingly expensive. Fascias and Soffits

What is a Soffit?

A soffit is a hard-wearing board attached to the underside of the roofline assembly, which keeps the underside of the rafters secure and dry.


What is a Fascia?

A fascia board creates a support for the bottom edge of the rooftiles, and keeps out birds and vermin.

Why do I need my gutters cleaned?

Gutters that haven’t been cleaned tend to be full of debris. This debris causes water to back up and flow over the edge of the gutter causing various types of damage. Standing water can also cause sagging and rotting of your gutters which can cost you quite a lot to fix. The small investment to clean your gutters every six months or so will save you hundreds or thousands of pounds in the long term.

Timber fascias and soffits need constant attention and will eventually rot away and fail, and your home will diminish in protection and appearance. That's why we recommend uPVC.


UPVC Cladding

Timber cladding boards are generally used on the vertical sides of some buildings. They often cover a very large area, which can make their upkeep very expensive. Upvc replacement boards can also be used in a variety of other ways such as on the underside of wide porches or underneath car ports. The cladding boards will interlock so can be used to cover an area of almost any size. Because each board overlaps the next, all fixings such as nails can be hidden, leaving a clean, smooth finish. There is also a range of trims available to neatly finish off cladding edgings and any overhangs.

The cladding boards also come in a choice of additional colours including Mahogany, Rosewood, Golden Oak or Black. These can be easily matched to any coloured upvc window frames or fascia boards you currently have - helping you to create almost any style for the exterior of your home.


Guttering
